OFFICE OF THE PRIMARY PUBLIC DEFENDER
RANDY MIZE
To Our Community Partners:
The County of San Diego, Department of the Public Defender is proud to announce the development of the Public Defender Community Outreach Program. Our mission is to connect with our partners in the community to enrich the lives of those less fortunate and assist in securing equal access to justice.
The Department of the Public Defender is comprised of four separate agencies - the Office of the Primary Public Defender, the Office of the Alternate Public Defender, the Multiple Conflicts Office, and the Office of Assigned Counsel - and is headed by the Public Defender for the County of San Diego, Randy Mize. The Department employs approximately 434 attorneys, investigators, paralegals, and clerical staff in multiple branch offices located throughout San Diego County. Each office represents adults and children in criminal cases who cannot otherwise afford legal services; with the common goal of protecting the constitutional and civil rights of our clients with integrity, dignity, and fairness.
Though most of the Public Defender's work occurs in the courtroom, the Outreach Program strives to assist at the community level. By reaching out to our community partners, we hope to aid in understanding the criminal justice system, as well as to find solutions to issues affecting our clients outside of the courtroom. Our goal is to make our collective experience and diversity accessible to community organizations in an effort to assist individuals and families throughout the county.
Thank you and we look forward to working with your community organization.
Sincerely,
Randy Mize
